iPhone 6 Benchmark Results Are Out, Results Are Surprising

Apple finally managed to launch its long anticipated flagship device, the iPhone 6. As expected, the launch event was a total success, and smartphones users everywhere are going crazy over the device. But what about the phone’s performance ? Is it as high as Apple lead us to believe? You can now form an idea for yourself on the subject, as the benchmark results for the iPhone 6 have been published via Basemark X. They’ve even put the scores from previous iPhone models next to the new one so you can evaluate the difference more accurately.

It is pretty important that we know what’s behind the iPhone’s high-end chassis, in order to properly evaluate its benchmark results. The premium body is wrapped around a 4.7 inch display, operating at a 750 x 1334 resolution. The power behind the iPhone 6’s  processing capabilities is the highly regarded A8 chip by Apple, as the device features a 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU with dual core status. No information regarding the GPU have been made public so far, but speculations drive enthusiasts and publications to believe that Apple packed its device with the PowerVR GX6650.  Using these specifications, the newest Apple smartphone managed to score 21,204 in the benchmark test. The device’s score isn’t really something to be astonished by, if you consider the score of the previous model, the iPhone 5S, which was 20,253 with a PowerVR G6430 GPU.

However, Basemark X thinks that the GPU behind the graphic rendering of the iPhone 6 might be the PowerVR G6630, which is a hexa core unit, instead of the aforementioned model.

We don’t hold any information regarding the benchmark results of the iPhone 6 Plus at this moment, but the standard iPhone 6 model seems to hold the highest benchmark score so far. It’s 21.204 score is preceded by the iPhone 5S’s 20,253. Next in line are the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 scored 10,973, while the 5C scored 10,822. The 4S came up with 5,034.

The not so terrific benchmark results didn’t slow down the iPhone 6 a bit. Due to he high demand, the already depleted iPhone 6 stocks from 12 September will be shipped to those who pre-ordered them in no more than 10 days. There are limited iPhone 6 Plus supplies therefore the new orders will take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete shipment.
