Possible Google Treat- Will We Get Two Nexus Models This Year ?

Those awaiting the release of this year’s Google Nexus smartphone device  might feel good about finding out that there are rumors starting to circulate about a potential Google plan to release not one, but two Nexus terminals this year.

The foundation for this rumors was set earlier this month, last week to be more precise, when news about Motorola planning on releasing 8 new devices by the end of this year caught our attention. The story also brought new insight towards the Nexus situation, and now voices are claiming that Google might surprise us with a second Nexus smartphone this year.

According to another report dating a while back, it has been reported that it is Motorola’s intent to release a smartphone based on the public response to the Moto X. The way the Moto X was received would influence the outcome regarding Motorola releasing one of two devices. The two options in question are a device called the Moto X Play, which features a 5.2 inch display, and the Moto S. The latter is reported to come featuring a larger display, measuring 5.9 inches. Reports coming in from Phone Arena state that if Motorola decides to go with the larger Moto S, and release the 5.9 inch device, Google might step in and brand the smaller 5.2 inch device as one of its own, giving it the Google Nexus mark.

Although Phone Arena claims that the source behind these alleged Google Nexus rumors are based on comments coming from someone who is considered close to the manufacturer’s supply chain, the story itself is still pretty thin and lacking in information or details. Although not impossible, the re-branding and total re-purposing of a device, in this case the 5.2 inch Moto X Play, which is supposedly taken into consideration by Google, can prove to be a challenging and tiring job. It would include re-banding, as mentioned above, but it would also need Google to handle the other concerns regarding the device, such as the manufacturing aspect, or the hard work involving marketing and distribution.

Some release date have been also flying around throughout the rumor circle, namely the 17th  of September and 31st of October. Until more information will surface, it is best if we don’t get our hopes up to early.
