Mojang’s popular Minecraft is allegedly getting a new mode. More exactly, Microsoft has announced the release of an augmented reality game based on the Minecraft series, and today we found out that the name of the title is ‘Minecraft Earth.’
The AR game will be available on Android 7 and later and at least iOS 10. Mojang will open the closed beta sometime this summer. Microsoft Earth will take everything you love from Bedrock Edition and revive it as an AR game. This means that you will be able to play what is the full game in the real world via your smartphone.
Minecraft Earth is similar to Pokemon GO
Minecraft Earth will be a free game to play, and the closed beta will be available on Android and iOS devices for now, with more platforms versions to come at a later date.
Similar to Pokemon GO, the streets and landmarks will make up the map of the gameplay of Minecraft Earth. If you want to participate in the upcoming closed beta, you will need a mobile device that runs at least Android 7 (Nougat), and a Microsoft or Xbox Live account in order to complete the registration. Those who register and play the upcoming beta version of the game will receive an exclusive skin for free.
Earlier in May, Mojang began leaving clues of a new Minecraft augmented reality game for smartphones dubbed Minecraft Earth. The fact that the closed beta would be open for access to the game this summer was already known. We seem to approach the release date rapidly, as a trailer was also unveiled. The trailer depicts the expected experience in detail.
If you want to register for a chance to take part in the closed beta, you can head to Mojang’s official website and sign up.
