ASUS has always been working hard to supply its users’ smartphones with software updates as fast as possible. The year 2018 represented a very important step for ASUS with the release of ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5z.
As of this year, the company released updates for Android Pie beta for a number of its smartphones, such as ZenFone 4, ZenFone Max Pro M1, ZenFone Max M2 and ZenFone Max Pro M2. The last to receive stable Android Pie updates is the latest ZenFone 5 line-up: ZenFone 5, 5z and 5 Lite.
ZenFone 5 Lite was inaugurated at the beginning of 2018 and used Android 7.1 Nougat as software. ZenFone 5 Lite is also called ZenFone 5 Selfie Pro in some parts of Europe and ZenFone 5Q in the United States.
Software upgrades
The old Android version prevented the smartphone to reveal all of its qualities, but with the new update all will change. An interesting fact is that ASUS decided to skip two important OS versions in order to have Android Pie, but there’s nothing for ASUS to lose.
As it accessible to different regions, it moves the firmware version to a higher level: WW-16.0610.1905.79. The change log does not provide information about the notable changes that will be brought by the software upgrade; it simply notifies “Android P OS upgrade”. But users are inclined to think that there are more developments than the already known visual innovations, the brand-new navigation pill and original Pie characteristics. The update is not big; its size is slightly above 1GB.
ASUS begins to stray far from ZenUI and prefers to experience the front-end touch interface features of Android on its smartphones, such as ZenFone 6 and ZenFone 4 Max. This is the reason why users hope that ZenFone 5 Lite will have the same characteristic.
Because the update is going to be accessible to users in different areas around the globe, it is expected to take some time for it to be ready to use for everybody.
